I was considered riffing off of my compatriot’s posts on gas (http://mikeboldrick.wordpress.com/2011/06/30/im-alive-but-i-have-gas/ or http://mikeboldrick.wordpress.com/2011/07/12/hot-water/), because I discovered the reason that I went through what should have been 3 months worth of gas in 5 weeks.  My gas tank has a leak. Using the latest high-tech techniques in soap-and-water spray technology, I discovered that the connectors on my big tank are leaking.

Even though scientific pictures usually need analysis, I think this one is self-explanatory. Now I’m waiting for repairs and turning off the tank when I don’t need gas. I also haven’t taken a shower yet today, because now I have a 2-step process to both light the pilot on the water tank heater and wait for the water to heat up. Much too involved for a lazy Saturday at home. This does feel a bit more like Peace Corps hardship though. Overall I think I can handle the extra step involved when I want to cook or shower, and I guess I’m just glad that my first leak test with the lighter didn’t work.
