The silent procession is one of the main events for Semana Santa here in Querétaro. The large procession of mostly hooded penitents walks through the city in silence. Most of the men walk barefoot, carrying large crosses, and with chains around their ankles. We were told to be prepared for the crowd to be silent as well, which really wasn’t the case for the part of the procession we watched. Still, an interesting experience as all the hooded figures went past for a few hours in their various colors.
